Itsy Made To Order..."Fondant Roses" (Engagement Cupcakes)

Hello...It's me...
We were wondering if after this 2 weeks you'd still like to read?
To read over our story.
They say, time suppose to heal us
But we ain't done with healing

Hello, can you read this
We're back in the blog brainstorming about what to tell
when we are new and fresh
We've forgotten how it was done before we ring the bell

(Please read with the rhythm of 'Hello' from Adele)

It has been two weeks since our last post. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. We were down with high fever and bad cough plus flu (including some infection in the lung and blood). Today, we are back on track but still recovering.

Today, we are going to take you for a 'back to the past' story. It was back in year 2011 if we are not mistaken, when we received our first order for engagement cupcakes for hantaran (wedding dowry). The customer did provide us a sample picture but we are very sorry, since we did not have it in our record anymore.

The theme was white and pink, 16pcs of cupcakes in a normal cupcake box. However, the design requires us to make roses from fondant. What?! We can make edible roses out of fondant? That was exactly what we thought at that time. Well, we still take up the challenge though.

As usual, we start preparing. So, we googled out and watch videos on you tube to learn how to make roses out of fondant. To be lucky enough, during practical days for our BACC (Degree in Accountancy), one of the colleague's sister is a baker and the colleague of ours actually knows how the sister do her fondant roses and taught us.

We purchased some fondant at a bakery shop. You know what, to be lucky enough, AGAIN, the bakery shop is just down at ground level of our office. How great it was. The colleague (Nita aka Kak Long) taught us how to make fondant roses from scratch with fondant and without any cutters. Yeah! And....the tutorial, it was done at our office (when our boss are not around, obviously). Thank you Kak Long. Appreciate it much! xoxo.

And...Tadaaaa.......!!!!

The sample design given was alike just that in the sample, they have full roses bouquet for all 4 cupcakes at the 1st row. But ours, we need to modified  them a bit since they can't fit in the box.

Since we believe in practice makes perfect, from time to time, we get to make fondant roses the way that we are comfortable with. There are so many ways of doing so which depends on each individual's own creativity. The outcome will also improve from time to time. But there is still a long way to go for us to be able to make fondant roses that looks real. But, here are some of our roses improvement. From the 1st one above, to......

This is for our dear brother's engagement (hantaran).

to.....this....

A simple birthday cake for a niece

and also......to..... this....

for our younger sister's engagement (dessert table)

Ok, that is all that we have on the story of our fondant roses  and first order for fondant cupcakes so far. Till the next one, bye and see ya!
